Special mode > Finish the game once. Then, at the title screen, the new selection "PROFESSIONAL!" will appear. Select it and you will be able to play through only the action screens.
Password > At the password entry screen, enter MFMJ TVSY FVPX to start of the last level in Hard mode, with 38 lives remaining. Enter Xxxx Yyyy Zzzz to fight the final boss of ActRaiser.
Extra lives > At the continue screen go all the way to the left of the screen instead of going through one of the doors. You will enter a room containing four 1-ups.
Passwords > Go to the password entry screen and enter 11111. The game will begin in the hall of stairs with 100 men. Enter BLKX8 to start with Uncle Fester, Granny, Pugsley, Wednesday, five hearts, and 70 lives. Go into the music room and wait until the music stops. You may then enter the basement with 70 lives.
Sound test > At the title screen, press Select to access the sound test menu.
Extra continues > At the title graphic, press X, Y, B, A, X, A, B, Y, up, L. You should hear a chime. You now have five continues. Alternatively, press X, Y, B, A, X, A, B, Y, up, R for nine continues.
Level skip > At the start/options screen, press down, A, down, Y, down, A, down, Y. A tone will sound. During gameplay, press start to pause the game, then press up, X, down, B, left, Y, right, A, L, R. Press Start to pause the game, then press Select to skip levels.
Level select > At the title screen, select the options screen. At the options menu, press L, R, Start, Select, X, Y, A, and B. You will hear a chime. When you return to the title screen, you will see the stage numbers above "GAME START".
Secret warp > In the first level, find the green balloon with the flower on it. Stand in the bottom left of the depression and jump up and right to hit the wall. A block should appear. Jump onto the block and towards the top-left of the screen. Go all the way to the left, then press up, and you should find yourself in a room with a door. Enter the door to reach the Warp-O-Matic, which allows you to warp to levels 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Passwords > Press Start to skip the introduction, select "CONTINUE" and press start. Enter one of the codes from the following table to start at that level.

Boss car > At the title screen, press L, R, and up. You should hear a rumbling sound. Begin a normal game, when you reach the boss, you will be driving his car.
Extra mode > At the title screen, press up, down, L, R, then Select. You will hear an explosion. Select the options menu and choose "MYSTERY MODE". You can now play the entire game from an overhead perspective.
Extra credits > At the title screen, press and hold Select, then press Start. At the option screen press and hold the L Button, then press up and X simultaneously, left and Y simultaneously, down and B simultaneously, right and A simultaneously. A new credits option will appear.
Difficulty select > At the title screen, press L and select at the same time. When the "ADJUST AIM" screen appears, start the game as normal. Game play will now be much more difficult.
Level select > At the character selection screen, press up, down, down, up, X, B, Y, A, then Start. A warp screen will appear and your number of lives will increase to ten.
Pad configure > At the title screen, press Select and you will be able to program how the pad's buttons behave.
Japanese version > At the Jaleco logo, enter the following sequence repeatedly: B, A, X, and Y. You should hear a slashing sound and the screen should change. Press Start, then press down three times followed by Start. An option screen will appear and you will be able to play the Japanese version of the game.
Same-player vs. > At the title screen, select two player game. At the select player screen, move the cursors to characters immediately adjacent to the character you wish to play. On both pads, press towards that character at the same time. The cursors should move and combine onto that character.

Boss code > At the Takara logo, press B, A, X, Y, up, left, down, right, L, R before the logo fades out. You will hear Terry Bogard say "O.K." You will now be able to choose any of the 12 fighters to compete with.

Play as bosses > Wait for the Fighter's History title to fade, then press right, right, up, up, L, R. You will hear a chime. You will now be able to select any of the bosses as a player character.

Defeat Dark King > When faced with the Dark King, check through your inventory for a Cure spell. By casting a Cure spell on the Dark King with your primary character, you can do between 15,000 to 30,000 points of damage.
Extra cash > At the player select screen, enter SETAUSA as your name. Your cash will be increased to $10,000.
Secret course > Choose "START" at the tile screen, then select your player and choose "TRAINING" in the configuration screen. Choose the "MONACO" course and modify your car as you wish. Begin the race and look carefully for a lake that comes to a point between two gray barriers. Get up to top speed and drive straight for the water. Look for a large patch of grass next to the lake which leads to a new course not on the map.
Sound test > At the player select screen enter OTO as your name and press Start. A music select screen will appear. Use buttons A and X to change the selections and Start to play them. NOTE: this only works on preliminary versions of the game.
Super Engine > Race until you accumulate $100,000 or more. At the mode select screen, choose "R & D". Under the R&D options, move the tire next to the lab. Under the laboratory option, select "ENGINE". Put $100,000 into the development of the new engine. During a race, press Buttons A and B simultaneously.
Arcade mode > At the title screen, select the option screen move the cursor to "GAME LEVEL" and press Button A very rapidly.
Controller reset > Press and hold Button L, R and Start, then press Select to reset the console.
Extra credits > At the title screen press Button X approximately 16 times a second. If done properly, you will increase the number of credits from 4 to 9.
Extra lives > At the title screen, press left, then press Button B three times. When you begin the game you will have 30 ships.

Multi-select > Select the options screen using Controller One and highlight "EXIT." On Controller Two press and hold Button L, R, and Start, then press Start on Controller Two. An options screen will appear allowing you to select vitality and floor.
Secret warp > On Level 34, there is a secret door that will transport you directly to Hydra. Vaporize the two blocks, and watch the pillars. Hit the fourth pair of pillars on the left to activate the switch that makes the door appear.

Options select > On Level 3 - Final Stage (Andross) DO NOT shoot out his eyes, just dodge everything until he inhales and exhales three times. On his fourth inhale, release three nova bombs into his mouth. When he starts to spit things back out, fly to the lowest right corner and start spinning right. You will get hit twice, so make sure your shields can take it. After your second hit, this weird blue blob appears (it looks like the pilots from the asteroid stage) and flies right into you. An options screen will appear allowing you to select difficulty, extra man, sounds, music, and extra joy(stick).
Warps > There are two warps in Starfox:
The Awesome Black Hole: Go to the Asteroid Field on level 1. You will see a rotating row of five asteriods with an orange-colored one in the center. Shoot the orange asteriod and fly though the space where it was. Repeat this for the other two similar groups. A "laughing asteriod" should appear towards the lower left, destroy this and you should see a Black Hole appear. Fly into it to warp.
Out of this Dimension: Go to the asteroid belt on level 3 and blow up the first giant asteroid on the lower right. Then, an egg will appear. Destroy the egg and a bird will fly out. If you can catch it you will be transported to a new level.

Display character profiles > After the character profile has begun, press and hold L or R on Controller Two. The profiles of each World Warrior will appear sequentially instead of after each demo sequence.
Pad configure > Press and hold Select after losing a match in a one-player game, or after losing a fight in a two-player game. A pad configure screen will appear when you press Start to begin your new match.
Reset records > After the end of a match in VS. Mode, hold the Start button as soon as the "win" message appears, then press Select when the win/loss statistics come up. An option screen will appear allowing you to continue, quit, or reset the records.
Sound test > At the options screen, the sound effects can be changed by pressing Button R rapidly while the cursor is on 25, 26, 27. The new sound effects will be on 1F through 23.
Universal vs. > Start a one-player game and choose any character. Once you fly to your opponent's stage, let your fighter lose both rounds. When you are asked to continue, press Start on Controller One to go to the character selection screen and choose the fight you wish to play "same color vs." with. Let your fighter lose both rounds again. Press Start to continue. Choose a different character from the first two (note that the last character you used is still in color). After flying to the next stage, press Start on Controller Two and choose a character other than the "same color vs." fighter. Allow Player Two to lose both rounds. Wait to fly to the next stage and press Start on Controller Two. Pick the character for the stage you are now in, but again do not pick the "same color vs." fighter. Repeat this until you are at the stage for the "same color vs." fighter. Allow the clock to run out for four rounds without either player being hit. Player One will be asked to continue. Press Start to continue and then select the "same coloe vs." fighter and you will befighting the same color character.
Battle Trax computer opponent > At the game selection screen, choose "BATTLE TRAX". Choose your vehicle, and don't touch the controller. Three seconds after the race starts the computer will take control of the unattended car(s).
Same character > Choose any character for a one player game, and play until you have no lives remaining. When the continue screen appears, press Start on Controller Two and select the same character as player one. Press Start on Controller One and both players will have the same character.
Level select > Wait for the cinematic introduction to get to the point where Master Higgins' girlfriend is turned to stone and press Start. When the title screen appear again, press and hold Button L, X, and right, then press Start. A round select screen will appear.
Trick kill > Confront an enemy and switch to machine guns and start shooting. Once you hit the target, press Start to pause the game. The target will continue to be hit and eventually explode.
Perfect game > First, choose a male, right-handed bowler, give him a 16-pound ball, choose medium or high oil, and normal difficulty. During the game, move the bowler to the far right of the screen, move the pointer three taps to the left using Button L. While the curve meter is fluctuating, stop it on the red arrows (or to the far left). Once the power meter appears, stop the pointer when the brackets are the farthest apart (or when the meter is at full power). When you let go of the ball it will curve to the left and knock all of the pins down for a strike. Repeat this technique for a perfect game.

Bonus power-ups > Just below and to the right is a stair leading to Count Dracula's lair. Jump off the ledge to the right at the bottom of the stair, you'll land on an invisible platform. Jump to the left once more and walk to the left edge of the screen. Wait a moment and power-ups will fall down towards you; 99 hearts, a chain whip, boomerang, and a triple shot multiplier. To return to the ledge, climb the invisible set of stairs.

Change computer opponent's weapon > While engaging the computer in battle you can switch its weapon before it fires by pressing Button B repeatedly until the weapon changes.

Ghost racer > Start a one-player game and select "TIME TRIAL." The first character should be highlighted. Press start on Controller Two and the Princess should have "COM" above her. Select the Player one character with Controller One and the computer driver with Controller Two. When the game begins, the computer will control an aggressive ghost driver for the race. Playing against a ghost driver does not affect your score. When you have a ghost that you'd like to save, at the "CHANGE COURSE | RETRY | CHANGE DRIVER | END | REPLAY" screen, press and hold Buttons L, R, and Y, then press Button X. A chime will sound, then the "BEST 5 | BEST LAP" will disappear for a moment. The name of the course that the ghost is saved for will appear in yellow. The backup RAM will only save data for one ghost at a time. To retrieve the ghost from memory, choose that course and hod Buttons L or R, then press Button B. When asked, "Is this O.K.?" select, "YES."
Rotate screen > Start a one-player game and select "TIME TRIAL." Choose your player and select the track. While racing do not hit anything and get a good time. Choose the "REPLAY" option and while in replay mode press Button L or R to rotate the screen left or right.
Special Cup > At the "COURSE SELECT" menu, move the cursor to "MUSHROOM CUP," then press Buttons L, R, L, R, L, L, R, R, then press Button A. "SPECIAL CUP" will appear on the "COURSE SELECT" menu.
Speed boost > At the start of the race, wait for the first starting beep, then press Button B. Timing is critical. When the race starts, you will boost ahead as if you had used a mushroom.
Bonus items > At the end of every level you can carry a turtle shell, P-block, or enemy through the high bar. It will turn into a power-up item that can carry over into other levels.
Reenter finished castle > To reenter a castle or mini-fortress, stand on it and press Button L and R simultaneously.
Energy recharge > You must have 50 points or less of energy left. Equip the Power Bombs and roll into the ball and press down, L, R, and Power Bomb (default is X). Samus will be surrounded by a fireball and will refill up to 1400 energy points.
Extra bomb release > Once you have the ability to charge up any weapon, press and hold the fire button with any weapon selected and allow it to charge up. Press down twice to roll into a ball and release five bombs.
Levitation > With a controller equipped with rapid-fire, press down twice to roll into a ball and set rapid-fire on the fire button. Samus will begin to release bombs and climb.
Super weapon > With Super Bombs and weapons powered up, press Start to switch to the map screen and then press R to select the "SAMUS" menu. For "BEAM" select "CHARGE" and any other weapon. Press and hold fire to release a special attack.
Unlimited lives > Choose any stage and during gameplay press Start to pause the game. Press R, A, L, L, Y. The screen will shift to confirm that the trick worked.

Multi-select > At the title screen press Select and Start.
Difficulty select > Select the options screen and place the cursor on "GAME LEVEL." Press and hold Buttons X and A on Controller Two, then select the difficulty on Controller One. A new level, "GAMER," will be available.
Invincibility > Begin and save a game. Press Reset and wait until the American Sammy logo is complete, then press up, down, up, down, Select, Start on Controller Two before the logo disappears. Select Continue and then press Select to bring up a subscreen. Press Start on Controller Two and "DEBUG" will appear next to status if the trick worked.
Sound test > During game play, press Select on Controller One to enter the command window. Press Select on Controller Two. A sound test screen will appear.
Multi-select > At the "PLAY SELECT" screen, press B, A, B, Y, B, Y, L, A, R, A, then Start. An options screen will appear allowing you to select series, mission, invincibility, and perform a sound test.
Password > To start the game with Marcel LeBlanc full powered-up, choose "CONTINUE GAME" at the title screen, then select "END" instead of entering a password.
Password > You can enter the Emerald City using the following password: MNPQRZ TXCZCJ CJTCFD KLMNPG.
Full map > While in the map mode, press A, A, up, B. Leave the map and then return, the full map will be displayed.
Full weapons > While in the map mode, press R, up, B, A. Leave the map and you will have a fully stocked arsenal.
Invincibility > While in the map mode, press B, up, B, A. Upon leaving the map you will be invincible.
Level skip > While in the map mode, press up, B, R, B. You will skip to the next level after leving the map.
Cheat moves > Start the game in Tournament or One Fall mode. During the match, knock down your opponent and place your character in-line and on the same level with the referee. Press and hold Button Y. If your hold it long enough without the referee moving, you will run straight into the referee and knock him down. While the referee is lying on the mat, move in on your opponent and press Button L for an eye gouge and Button R for a choke hold. The cheat moves do large amounts of damage quickly.
Super pin > Work your opponent until he has slightly less than half his energy. Once you get him down on the mat, press Button X to pin him, then immediately press up while holding Button Y. The referee will count to three and your opponent will not be able to get up. This trick will work in one or two-player game, but not in the Tag Team or Survivor Series games.
Extra characters > At the title screen, select vs. mode. At the vs. option screen, set mode to "COM", then press and hold the following buttons in order : L, R, and X, then press Start. You should hear "Yoshi" if the trick worked. The new opponents are more difficult.
Extra levels > Using Controller One, select "ACTION". At the Action menu, set the round number to 10, speed to high, and music type to "OFF". On Controller Two, press and hold L, R, and Select, then press Start. You should hear "Yoshi" if the trick worked. A new options screen will appear, along with the option to select a level up to 99.
